Before entering fully into the establishment of the meaning of executive power, it is necessary to proceed to determine the etymological origin of the two words that comprise it:
-Power emanates from the vulgar Latin "posere".
-Executive derives from the Latin “exsequitus”, which can be translated as “relative to continue until the end”. It is made up of three distinct parts: the prefix "ex-", which is synonymous with "out"; the verb "sequi", which means "follow", and the suffix "-tivo", which comes to indicate what is an active relationship.

A State It has three essential powers: to legislate, administer justice and execute public policies. That is why it is said that the State can be divided into three powers that are exercised by various institutions and agencies: legislative power , he power of attorney and the executive power .

This time we will focus on the executive power , whose function is to ensure compliance with laws developed through the legislative branch and administered according to the judiciary. The executive branch, in other words, is linked to the management of the state operation in the day to day.

When the concept refers to the state faculty in general, it is written with initial lowercase letters (executive power ). On the other hand, if the notion mentions the state body that exercises said power , capital letters must be included at the beginning of each word (Executive power ).

The executive power of a democratic state rests with elected officials through the vote popular . The elections allow the population to choose the people who will act as their representatives in the decision making concerning the society usually.

According to system in question, the executive branch is headed by a President , a goverment's head or a Prime Minister . This agent usually has the power to choose his ministers and secretaries , which act in a specific area (taking care of what concerns the economy, health, tourism, etc.).

It is important to know that the aforementioned executive branch in turn can be divided into three, according to the function it performs:
-Regulatory function, which is the set of tasks that are developed through what are decrees and rules.
-Political function, which is the one carried out with the clear objective of ensuring that citizens can see their interests satisfied in the best possible way. Hence, it means having to take measures that arise and are not developed by previous laws or regulations. Specifically, this section can include from undertaking commercial exchanges with other countries to appointing ministers.
-Administrative function. This denomination includes all the work that is carried out both from the different ministries and from the other bodies, such as state-owned companies. It also houses the tasks carried out in governorates, delegations, secretariats of state or intendancies.

It is important to highlight that the functioning of the Executive Power, the Legislative Power and the Judicial Power is interdependent : one power cannot pass over another. The coordinated operation of the three powers is established by the Constitution of each state.
